Zest Car Rental, a leading UK independent car hire broker, sought to expand their office space following the acquisition and renovation of Wernham House, an adjacent historic building.

iQ Workspace was tasked with transforming this space into a modern, functional, and vibrant work environment, accommodating various teams and meeting the specific needs of the Managing Director.

The brief

  • The Zest Car Rental office renovation project aimed to create a dynamic and functional workspace tailored to the specific needs of its administrative and marketing teams.
  • To achieve this, the design needed to incorporate dedicated workspaces, fostering focused productivity within each department, as well as the need for an executive office to further provide a confidential and professional environment for leadership activities.
  • Furthermore,  the team at Zest had a need for a collaborative team meeting area to encourage open communication and brainstorming sessions, crucial for strategic development.
  • Recognising the importance of technological integration in modern business operations, the renovation needed to prioritise seamless integration of modern technology, for advanced communication systems and presentation equipment, ensuring efficient information sharing and enhanced client interactions.

The challenges

  • The renovation involved blending modern office design with the character of an old flint building and converted garage space.
  • Efficiently utilising the available space to accommodate diverse team needs and create functional workspaces.
  • Addressing potential noise issues in a busy office environment, particularly in the collaborative meeting area.
  • Seamlessly integrating AV equipment and power/data connections into the meeting and executive spaces.
  • Balancing a bright, corporate aesthetic with practical workspace requirements.

iQ Workspace successfully delivered a comprehensive office renovation that met and exceeded the client's expectations.

Key results included:

  • The administrative and marketing teams were provided with fully cable-managed Nova bench desks, complemented by acoustic dividing screens for enhanced privacy and concentration.
  • The converted garage space was transformed into a modern meeting area featuring a Nova meeting table, Gamma meeting chairs, and a Media Wall with integrated AV connections, facilitating seamless presentations and collaboration.
  • The Managing Director’s office was designed to support both individual work and collaborative meetings, featuring a conference table with a return for IT equipment, Nova storage, and Vegas soft seating for informal gatherings.
  • Highly acoustic desk-mounted screens were implemented to minimise noise distractions and create a more focused work environment.
  • The use of bright corporate citrus fabric colors, combined with non-reflective white steel and MFC finishes, created a visually appealing and work-ready atmosphere.
  • The successful integration of modern technology into the historic building.
